Nyikani Migration Camp Kogatende is designed to follow the movements of the Great Migration, offering guests a front-row seat to one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife spectacles.
From approximately May through November, the camp is located in Kogatende in the northern Serengeti National Park, placing guests close to the action during migration season and within easy reach of the famous Mara River crossings.
The Mara River crossings are among the most sought-after wildlife experiences in Africa. Watching hundreds, sometimes thousands, of wildebeest and zebra gather along the riverbanks before making the dangerous crossing is an unforgettable safari experience.
In addition to the migration, the area supports excellent year-round wildlife viewing, including lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and a variety of bird species.
The camp offers a mix of standard and family tents, creating an intimate safari experience in the heart of the Serengeti.
Each tent includes:
The tents are spaced approximately 15 to 20 metres apart, providing privacy while maintaining the atmosphere of a traditional safari camp.
Room fabrics feature handwoven African designs, while much of the furniture has been commissioned from local artisans in Arusha, adding a strong sense of place and connection to Tanzania.
Nyikani Migration Camp operates entirely off-grid using a custom-built solar power system, allowing guests to enjoy modern comforts while minimizing environmental impact.
The camp maintains an authentic safari atmosphere, with attentive service and thoughtful touches such as morning tea and coffee delivered directly to your tent before the start of your safari day.
The communal areas are housed within two canvas tents. The main tent combines comfortable lounge and dining spaces with locally crafted furnishings, colourful fabrics, and views across the surrounding wilderness. A smaller tent houses additional guest facilities, while a small library and well-stocked bar provide inviting spaces to relax between game drives.
The campfire area is the heart of camp life in the evenings. After a day spent tracking the Great Migration, guests can gather around the fire, share stories from the day’s sightings, and listen to the sounds of the Serengeti beneath a sky filled with stars.
